Detailed Itinerary of the 9 Days Rwenzori Trekking via Central Circuit Route

Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe Airport in Uganda

Arrive at the Entebbe Airport where you meet our driver guide who informs you about the 9 Days Rwenzori Trekking Tour via central Circuit Trail then later, he shall transfer you to check-in lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Kasese (Rwenzori Mountains National Park)

After breakfast embark on transfer to the western part of Uganda via Mubende, Fort-portal, Kasese till you reach the base camp at Mountain Rwenzori National Park at Nyakalengija.

The journey takes you a period of 7 hours watching the green terrain vegetation, bird species as well as have lunch. After a while, you shall reach the base camp where you register and after check-in lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Equator Snow Lodge.

Day 3: Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut

Breakfast then transfer to Nyakalengija Base Camp where you meet park ranger guides who take you through short briefing on conduct as you hike the majestic Mountain in groups. You rent items as well as be allocated guides and porters then start your hike from the base camp to Nyabitaba Hut.

Follow the trail to Mubuku River which traverses rocks, bluffs before reaching River. After traversing the river, you proceed through open fern slopes and the podocarpus forest till you reach the Nyabitaba Hut 87000 ft – 2 652m.

After a while, you shall reach the Nyabitaba Hut where you rest and have an over night.

Day 4: Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut

Breakfast then embark on a hike for a period of 4 to 5 hours following the trail west wards for 1 and a half kilometers. You shall continue Northwards steeply to Kurt Shafer Bridge then cross beneath the confluence of River Bujuku and River Mubuku.

The hike along the Kurf Shafer Bridge is known to be most tiring as hikers tend to lose altitude, you watch unique vegetation inclusive of bog. After a while, you shall reach the poor condition hut at Nyamileju which is accompanied by rock shelter. Proceed on hike till you reach John Matte hut at 3414m.

Day 5: From John Matte at 3,44m to Bujuku Hut

Breakfast then leave John Matte and traverse to River Bujuku and then enter the lower Bigo bogs via a muddy trail that continues to the lower Bigo hut and its shelter.

Proceed on hike under a shaded area under mist that make the hike challenging to conquer as you follow through cold weather that affects travelers bringing about altitude sickness.

You shall break off for lunch at the upper edge of Bigo close to Lake Bujuku then later proceed to the Bujuku Hut for relaxation and here there is a rock shelter called Cooking pot and the shorter distance to Bujuku hut.

Day 6: Bujuku Hut to Kitandara Hut (4,023m)

Start the day with a morning hike from Bujuku through a trajectory that continues up a vertical rock slope above Scott Elliot (4372m), the uppermost region along the central circuit.

On the trail, you shall watch the stunning views of the Bujuku valley, Mount Stanley and Mount Baker as the soar above. The trek ends at the hut close to the lower Lake Kitandara a perfect spot enfolded by towering mountaintops. On reaching the hut, you shall have Dinner and Overnight at Kitandara Hut.

Day 7: Kitandara Hut to Guy Yeomen Hut (3,505m)

On this day, you get on yet another puzzling sharp march experience starting from Kitandara Hut to Guy Yeoman Hut (3505m). The hike takes a period of about 5 hours to reach the Fresh field Path (4282m) as you watch the amazing falls at Kabumba cave.

After a while hiking, you shall reach the hut after views of the stunning River Mubuku and Mount Baker at a distance. Dinner and Overnight at Guy Yeomen Hut.

Day 8: Guy Yeoman back to Nyabitaba

Embark on a four hour descent stretching from Guy Yeomen to Nyabitaba Hut following the trail downwards the overhangs of Kichuchu. After Kichuchu, the mud-covered pathway traverses River Mubuku twofold before descending to Nyabitaba to finish the hike via the central circuit. Dinner and overnight at Nyabitaba Hut.

Day 9: Nyabitaba to Nyakalengija – Drive Back to Kampala

Take breakfast, descend to Nyakalengija, the starting point and then begin the journey back to Kampala taking the same route that brought you to the mountain. Lunch en-route and arrive in the afternoon/evening. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Urban by City Blue Hotel, Protea Hotel or Cassia Lodge.
